Gulp…I’m running the London Marathon!

I don’t think its sunk in yet, that I have been given the honor to run the London 2018 Marathon, for Round Table Children’s Wish Charity! Children’s Wish provides children with experiences inside and out of the hospital environment. From laptops to trips to Disneyland, this charity is committed to fulfilling the dreams of poorly children and I could be more thrilled to be part of fulfilling their wishes. This will be the most challenging task I have ever undertaken, but I am so excited, dedicated and ready to give it my all and make many wishes come true.

I wasn’t expecting to get in through the ballot, or a charity for that matter. A record number of over 350,000 people applied for a number of spaces that is around a quarter of the applicants. Its luck of the draw, and I admire those who have been waiting years for a place, and haven’t given up! Keep applying, your day WILL come <3

When I started running, I never imagined I’d run a half marathon, let alone a full. However, after watching a few friends run London this year, it made me realize just how much I wanted to. The atmosphere was INCREDIBLE! Just from standing on the streets at mile 22 watching these people, of all ages, run 26.2 miles, baffled me. The support, smiles, cheering from both the runners and supporters was extremely emotional. I follow a few, who ran, on Instagram, and their dedication and determination in the months of training, was infectious. I followed them from day one and as the day got closer, the mileage got longer and in the dead of winter, I can’t imagine how challenging it was. What with their jobs, family commitments, and everyday life, they all showed their love and enjoyment for this sport and I couldn’t be more proud of every single one of them. From that day, it became a dream of mine to one day run London, and I can’t believe that dream is coming true.

I have many ideas of how to raise money for Children’s Wish, which I plan to get started as soon as possible – so keep your eyes peeled! In the long term, I have added the link for my fundraising page, which you can find at the bottom of this post. I’d like to thank every single one of you who reads this blog, follows and supports me, it means so much to me.

I hope you have all had a wonderful weekend in this, unexpectedly, warm weather and a huge congratulations to those who ran today! Have a great week friends!

Emma xx
